You want to be fit and healthy enjoying life to the full,
don't you? Being overweight hurts. It never goes away. Everyone
can see it. You run the risk of life-threatening diseases and

movement and social disapproval. It makes your life
limited, miserable and depression can be the result.
So where do hypnosis and hypnotherapy have a
role to play in helping you lose weight and possess good weight
management skills.
Need to lose weight? Reduce calorie intake, increase calorie
usage, i.e. exercise, and you will lose weight. It's a very
obvious and simple equation. Simple? No, it isn't! Oh, It might
work for a few weeks given lots of encouragement and incentive.
But how often do you lose perhaps quite a lot of
weight, only to find it creeping on again over the following
months until you find yourself as heavy as you were
or worse, even heavier. Talk about an emotional yo-yo! And
how many years have you been engaged in this struggle? It's
pretty clear that as much as you may want a quick fix,
you begin to understand that there are none.
There are lots of fad diets around that should be avoided at
all costs, but good balanced diets are available and pretty
much common sense anyway. But none of the diets we follow
address the real problem - what's going on in our brain? We are
not simply 'what we eat', as the diet industry would have us
believe, we are also 'what we think'. It is your own self
imposed self talk and emotional stress that
keeps you where you are and prevents you from
achieving your goals. This is hardly a revelation of
course. You all know this. You have far more
potential than you are using. To reach your realistic
weight and maintain your weight requires a new life-style -
absolutely - but it also requires that you deal with why
you're overweight in the first place - the emotional lids
driven in turn by what you believe about you. If you
don't do that all that weight will all simply go back on -
guaranteed! The enouraging thing is that you do have the
motivation to do it- it's just that the
motivation you have is not pushing you in the right
direction.
So can you do it another way? Of course! You
recognise the importantance of learning the secrets of
healthy eating and putting regular exercise high on your
agenda. But even more important, you need to develop
the natural intuitive skills you already possess (but have
probably been ignoring); develop motivation in abundance and
learn how to deal with negative self-talk, low self esteem and
all the rest of the negative beliefs that you have learnt
surrounding weight issues. That's not to say you need to
revisit the past but use solution-oriented methods like
hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP to look towards a better way of
